The post office will no longer be delivering mail on Saturdays! While the date that this change will be effective is unsure, we should still be prepared. Don't let your rent be late because the check is in the mail - be sure to account for one less day of mail delivery!
To avoid any late fees you can always sign up for recurring payments! The payments can be pulled out of your checking or savings account. You can also choose to have it come from your credit or debit card. You can even specify what day you want it to go through (1st or 3rd of each month). Stop by or call us to discuss recurring payments further!

Operating Your Water Shut-Off Valves

In the event of any type of overflow or water flooding, please check for a shut off valve and close that before calling maintenance. Separate hot and cold shut off valves are located under the sinks. If the overflow is being caused by your commode, there is a "flapper" located in the toilet tank which can be secured over the opening and will stop the flow of water.  Be sure to turn off the valve behind the commode to shut off the water.
5 Home Safety Tips to Help You Sleep Easy

Home safety tips may seem like common sense, but don’t get careless and leave yourself open to crime. Here are five safety tips to consider. (Don’t forget to look into buying renters insurance, too!)

Safety Tip #1: Lock Your Door
Believe it or not, this is one of the most important home safety tips. Remember, most burglars are looking for the easiest opportunity. We’ve all left a door unlocked while we get the second load of groceries out of the car. You think you’ll just be gone for a minute, and you don’t want to have to fumble with the key again. You can always set the groceries down beside your door, unlock it, and pick them up again. Also, don’t leave a hidden key in a plant, under the mat, in a fake rock, or anywhere near your door.

Safety Tip #2: Leave the Light On
Leave a light on for safety, especially when you know you’ll be coming home after dark. If you’re worried about running up the utility bill and going through bulbs, use a compact fluorescent bulb. You might also put on some music at a low volume.

Safety Tip #3: Be Careful When Answering the Door
Don’t just open your door to anyone, especially when you’re not expecting them. Use that peephole if you have one.

Safety Tip #4: Get to Know Your Neighbors
We recommend finding an neighbor who can be a friend. You can look out for each other. Also, if you should have an emergency, strangers in your community may ignore you out of fear, but if they know you, chances are they’ll open the door or at least try and get some help.

Safety Tip #5: Improve Your Safety with a Pet
Thieves hate pets, especially dogs. Dogs, birds and even some cats can raise a very loud ruckus if a stranger enters your apartment. Consider seeking a pet if your community allows them and adopt him or her from the local animal shelter. Burglars will probably not want to come in, and you’ll have a great new friend.

These tips are provided for informational purposes only and are to be used at your own discretion.  We can not guarantee your safety but are happy to provide suggestions and tips such as these.
